Diamond Platnumz is the definitive architect of modern East African music, transforming Bongo Flava from a regional sound into a global powerhouse. Known professionally as Diamond Platnumz, Naseeb Abdul Juma Issack was raised in the Tandale ward of Dar es Salaam, Tanzania. His early life in this modest locality necessitated a relentless hustle; he funded his initial 2006 recording sessions by selling second-hand clothes, a background that deeply infused his music with themes of ambition and resilience.
His sound is a sophisticated fusion of Bongo Flava, Afrobeats, and R&B, often incorporating Congolese Rumba and Bolero. This stylistic versatility led to his 2010 breakthrough hit, "Kamwambie," which won three Tanzania Music Awards. Diamond’s achievements are historic: he was the first Africa-based artist to surpass 900 million YouTube views and remains a three-time MTV EMA winner for Best African Act. He has also earned multiple BET Award nominations and over 17 Tanzania Music Awards, making him the most decorated artist in East and Central Africa.
His prolific discography includes the landmark albums “Kamwambie (2010)” “Lala Salama (2012),” and A Boy from Tandale (2018),” alongside the record-breaking 2022 EP First Of All. Global hits like "Number One" (remix with Davido) and "Waah" featuring Koffi Olomide have cemented his international status. Today, as the CEO of WCB Wasafi, Wasafi Media, and Wasafi Bet, Diamond is a dominant force in the African creative economy. His 360-partnership with Warner Music Group continues to amplify his reach, ensuring he remains a premier cultural ambassador for the continent.
